Lady Pioneers End Season in the Second Round

Lady Pioneers End Season in the Second Round

The Lady Pioneers avenged two losses during the season by defeating Chattanooga State by 26 points in the first round of the TCCAA Tournament.  Jemiah Harrison had a stellar game with 22 points, 15 rebounds.  Kendrea Duke had 19 points, 13 rebounds and Samanatha Parker had 19 points in the win.  The story of the game was the play of Denisha Bowman who had possibly the only triple double in the TCCAA tournament and Vol State women's basketball history with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocked shots.  The 10 blocked shots may also be a Volunteer State Lady Pioneer record.

Returning to the court the very next day, the Lady Pioneers struggled to keep pace with the eventual tournament champion, Walters State Lady Senators.  After a close first quarter 16-13, the Lady Senators connected on 7-15 from three-point range in the second quarter.  Unable to overcome the score, the Lady Pioneers were defeated and finished off a great tournament run.
