Pioneers Sweep Southwest Tennessee
After winning their 2 mid-week games against Cumberland University JV (19-9, 5-0), the Pioneers took on Southwest Tennessee in a TCCAA series.
The Pioneers got another solid start from Dillon Bland in game 1. Bland went 6.1 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run. The Pioneers trailed 4-3 going into the bottom of the ninth but a big pitch hit by Jacob Messer and a pitch hit sac fly by Zach Knott tied the game at 4. The game went 14 innings before Josh Griffin's RBI single walked it off for the home team for a final score of 5-4
Game 2 the Pioneers scored single runs in innings 2-6 to push game out 5-1. Caiden Johnson and Keith Cooper had solid pitching performances to keep the Saluqis at bay.
Game 3 saw Southwest jump out to a 6-0 lead before the Pioneers scored 9 runs in the second inning. Highlighted by a Grand Slam HR from Carter Vrabel and 2 HRs in the inning for Noah Davis. Davis would go on to hit his 3rd HR of the contest in the 4th. The Pioneers had to hold off a Southwest rally in 7th. Caid Sanders came in to close the door on a 14-12 victory and sweep the series. Pioneers improve to 23-15 (6-11 TCCAA)
